This year/summer season we have an apprentice position, or internship position, available. Based in Killarney National Park/Kerry, with some Glengarriff Nature Reserve/Cork work also.
Three days per week; depending on your schedule - and what suits you. 95% of the work is kayak guiding and kayak coaching, on our guided kayaking and guided sea kayaking tours. You will be working with one of four qualified and experienced instructors at all times.
1. This is not a paid position with us.
2. This will not lead to a paid position with us.
You Will Receive:
1. €20 Per Day Petrol Money
2. Outdoor Experience In A Small Leading Outdoor Company
3. Outdoor Experience Working, Guiding, Coaching & Teaching
4. Regular Debriefing / Regular Team Breakfast Meetings
5. Training As An Assistant Outdoor Instructor
6. Any Internal Training Courses We Run - You Can Attend (See Here)
7. Any External Training Courses We Attend - You Can Attend
8. Log Hours For Kayak Instructorship (Plus Some Mountaineering, Rock Climbing & Hiking Hours)
This position would be suited for someone thinking of a career change into the outdoor industry; or a trainee instructor wanting to gain experience in the private industry and log a lot of quality hours over one summer season.
1. Summer season runs from start of May to start of September.
2. A typical working day would be 9am - 530pm at Ross Castle.
3. At the end of the summer season you should be in a position to complete a Kayak Instructor Training Course.
