Weeky Update @ Outdoors Ireland

Work more hectic than I'd like; not had a chance yet to stock check after summer, order new gear, etc; but that's an awesome complaint to have!

I've been running some magical kayak trips, including a dawn/sunrise trip yesterday. Couple of sea eagles out on Innisfallen Island and a one-antlered stag.

Mountain Skills Courses have started again and I've spent a couple of days on some really nice hills just above Ballyvourney running MS1 for trainee instructors at Kinsale Further Education College.

Weekly Update @ Outdoors Ireland

The superb weather of 2014 continues on and on! Full moon, hazy mist over the far off mountains and islands, breathtaking sunsets and sunrises...

I'm working outdoors more and more now and loving being in the fresh air again.

Last week I was sea kayaking in Galway, heading out towards the open waters at Mutton Island Lighthouse; passing several small robotic/remote-controlled sailing boats. Also kayaking on Lough Lein surfing, with strong winds behind us, around Ross Island and later in the week canoeing with some two-year olds.

About to guide a bike tour through Killarney National Park, around Lough Lein and through Torc Woods. I've recently updated our best photos of 2014, which you can see here.

That's all for now, Nathan

Great Feedback - (Thank You)

Two great pieces of feedback we recently received.
Thanks guys for taking the time to do this.

''Brought back memories of a magical evening spent on Lough Lein with Mark, a wonderfully patient honeymoon couple, and a dear friend of mine who was my traveling companion. Sounds like you've had a good season, so congrats there on that! Mark was an amazing guide for us during our sunset kayak on Lough Lein in July. So helpful giving a pair of rookies all the info we needed to be safe in the kayaks & setting us straight if we went awry, good-natured as all get out, well-supplied with stories about the lake, Inishfallen & it's history (not to mention tea & chocolate - that was a nice touch!) & finished with a flourish taking us through the caves in the rocky islands as we finished our paddle.

As I said previously, it was a magical night! Your YouTube video snippets help bring it all back. Many, many thanks for an intimate view of the lake and the beauty that surrounds it.

Looking forward to a return visit next spring during April school vacation with my husband & daughter. We'll be sure to be in touch to book a fun outing with you folks.''

''My experience with Outdoor Ireland was outstanding! I have never experienced anything so thrilling and exciting in my life. Climbing down natural waterfalls and kayaking while watching the beautiful sunset is a once in a life time experience. The two tour guides we had, Mark and MJ were absolutely amazing. They knew exactly what they were doing at all times, and safety was their number one priority. I felt safe and secure at all times knowing that they were guiding me along the way. If you are thinking about embarking on an adventure with Outdoor Ireland, you absolutely have too! You will have the time of your life and you will make memories that will last a life time. After my experience with Outdoor Ireland, I absolutely 100% want to embark on another adventure. Outdoor Ireland is the best of the best!''

Weely Update @ Outdoors Ireland

Tired this week for some reason. Stunning day outside; Lakes of Killarney glassy calm. Hoping a kayak trip comes in so I can get on the water.

Jason, Mark and MJ finishing up their summer full-time work and I'm back to covering most of the bookings and running the office from next week. Really looking forward to working back outdoors for the autumn/winter and enjoying the first crisp frosts!

IT issues nearly sorted. I love Lenovo laptops and find them brilliant to work with but after the customer care of the past two weeks I really do not recommend Lenovo or Digital River. Terrible to deal with. Anyway that's my rant for the week!

On a more positive note I briefly bumped into Jim Kennedy this morning and if you are ever in West Cork, looking to go sea kayaking check him out...

Enjoy our September summer. That's all for now, Nathan

Killarney Kayaking Last Week

A silent grey dawn kayak tour and a glassy blue afternoon trip later that week...
